We present various "public transportation" and "tourist destinations" in Daegu, one of Korea's largest cities. In Daegu, we can comfortably use the airport, KTX, subway lines, monorails, buses, and taxis to explore the city. Daegu has historical tourist attractions such as Otgol Village, Gyesan Yeaga, Cheongna Hill, and others. You can visit attractions like Dalseong Park, where the idol V (BTS) grew up and other Hallyu tourist attractions such as Ayang Train Track, Kim Gwangseok-gil street, and so on. The ARC is a wonderful place to unwind while overlooking the Nakdong River. We recommend riding on the duck boat on Suseongmot Lake and engaging in the activities at E-world. Today we head down to the city of Daegu, South Korea. This is Korea's third largest city. I go on an epic food tour to try some of the representative foods from Daegu, including hand torn noodles and spicy beef ribs called jjim galbi. We also stop at a street celebrating Korean folk singer Kim Gwang Suk and BTS's V's elementary school. But first we try our morning coffee at a Starbucks that was built in a hanok from the 1900's. Even though our last day in Busan was a wash, literally, my boy Sam and I continued our South Korean adventures on our ninth day in the country by heading to our next city: Daegu! Come along with us as we share our first impressions of South Korea’s fouth-largest city! FEATURED TRAVELER: Sam: 🤍 We started day 9 in South Korea at Busan Station, the second-largest station in the country. We were going to take the KTX (Korean express) Bullet Train to Daegu, but first we needed to grab something to eat because I was starving! Busan Station has so many restaurants open early in the morning, so you’ll never go hungry. There are tons of options. Because we had arrived early, we could take our time and eat and relax. I wanted something Korean! The terminal is huge, a lot like the station in Seoul. All of the restaurants are up on the second level. We had to hike up the escalator because it stopped working. I wanted a bibimbap, so Sam found a restaurant that sells one with bean sprouts, a soup, and fish. The restaurant felt like a big food hall. There were lots of different types of tables. We sat down and waited for our numbers. For 10,000 won ($8.22 US), I got a massive spread that consisted of a bibimbap and seaweed with an egg on top, sundubu jjigae (a soup wit meat, seafood, and tofu), fish, pickled fish, sauce, pickles, and radish! I added the sauce to my bibimbap and mixed it all up and let the egg run throughout. It was creamy, almost like a risotto. There were lots of bean sprouts and crunchy seaweed. It was so good! The sundubu jjigae contained big pieces of tofu, shrimp, and clams. The tofu was super soft! The broth was fishy and yummy. The fish looked almost like what you’d get with fish and chips, but had way too many bones in it, so I went with the pickled fish instead. It was tiny and mixed with delicious root vegetables. After our delicious breakfast, we stood out on a mini platform, where we got some amazing views of the harbor and Busan skyline. Then we headed down to the KTX. The trains are always punctual, so there are never any delays. We wrote Economy, which only cost us 17,100 won, or about $14 US. It would take us only 50 minutes to get to Daegu. We passed through a very touristy city that we wanted to visit, but we would have needed an extra day. After 50 minutes, we arrived in Daegu! The station was a lot smaller that the ones in Seoul and Busan. We headed outside. There were lots of army- and SWAT-looking guys outside and video cameras, so it looked like they were making a movie. There was a nearby airport and a fleet of taxis outside. We caught one. As we rode through the city, I noticed lots of mid-rise buildings. It wasn’t as modern as Busan, and no real skyscrapers. There was lots of retail on the bottom levels of the buildings. It definitely felt like a smaller, Asian city. Daegu is also the warmest city in South Korea, so you’ll fry here in the summer! As we continued on through the downtown areas, we started seeing more modern areas, wide avenues, and taller buildings. It was pretty expansive! The city looked really beautiful and there were tons of green spaces and mountains surrounding it. We only had one day there, so we had to try to cram a lot into the next 24 hours! Come join us for another travel episode from South Korea as we say goodbye to Busan on a day trip sharing our first impressions visiting Daegu. After spending an extended amount of time exploring Busan, both David and I were excited to head over to Daegu to check out the 3rd biggest city in Korea. David's channel: 🤍 We started off our morning bright and early at Busan station grabbing a delicious Korean bibimbap breakfast that included soup and side dishes. We then caught a KTX train from Busan to Daegu which was just a short ride. Feeling refreshed and excited to be in a new city we took a long taxi ride over to Daegu Tower. As one of the only people in the tower, we had fantastic views of Daegu. Our first impressions of the city is that it is far bigger than we had originally anticipated. Also, it is very mountainous, green and has more traditional architecture than in Busan. We are Samuel and Audrey, a vlogging travel couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. Our most recent trip was to South Korea where I embarked upon a two-week adventure without Audrey. Invited as part of a YouTube vlogging trip, organized by KTO, I spent the first week traveling with other YouTubers in Seoul, Busan and Gyeongju. My second week included independent exploration of Korea with my good friend and fellow YouTuber David of DavidsBeenHere. Having lived and traveled in South Korea, the chance to return to one of my favorite countries was one of the biggest surprises of 2019. On this particular trip, I had an opportunity to do many things I had not previously covered including a visit to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone between South Korea and North Korea), a Buddhist Temple Stay and a Korean cooking class. It was almost as if the program designed by KTO knew exactly what I had missed out on before. Obviously, a huge highlight from the two weeks I spent revisiting Korea was the food. I feasted on all of my favorite Korean dishes including Korean barbecue, dolsot bibimbap, haemul pajeon, tteokbokki, bulgogi, kimbap and many others. I can honestly say that Korean food is world-class and is one of my top 5 favorite cuisines in the world. Aside from trying familiar dishes, I had the opportunity to sample raw Korean seafood for the first time. While visiting Seoul, highlights included going to Gyeongbokgung Palace, Namsan Seoul Tower, Jogyesa Temple and Hongdae. As one of the biggest cities in the world, I barely scratched the surface of things to do in Seoul. Spending extended time in Busan was my favorite part about the trip with top highlights including a Korean temple stay, fresh fish markets and a Korean baseball game. It was from Busan that we ended up taking a day-trip to Daegu where we enjoyed a traditional Korean market and tried Galbi-Jjim for the first time. Sat in the train station for about 2 hours only to find out that the trains run about every 20min lmao then we took an 1 and half train ride to Daegu where we finally was transported to our hotel. After arriving in the city of Daegu on my ninth day in South Korea, my travel buddy Sam and I hit the ground running with a visit to 83 Tower, followed by a trip to Seomun Market to try some of the local street food! Come along with us as we explore the city of Daegu! FEATURED TRAVELER: Sam: 🤍 Our morning in Korea’s fourth-largest city began at 83 Tower, which is considered a symbol of Daegu. I heard that it offers incredible views of the city, so I couldn’t wait to go up and get a bird’s-eye view of Daegu! 83 Tower has (you guessed it) 83 floors. Its observation deck is located on the 77th floor and there is a restaurant on the 78th. It costs 10,000 won ($8.25 U.S.) for adults to go up to the observatory. We took the elevator up. The observation deck was beautiful! The city was so big! I could see a park, stadium, an amusement park, and more. It was so cool to see the city nestled in the valley between mountains. On the wall, there’s a display that compares the heights of several famous towers around the world. We ordered some green tea lattes from the café, which only cost about $2.50 U.S. each. My matcha espresso latte was cold and refreshing! From the tower, we headed to the Skyway cable car, which was free! It took us over the amusement park. After 10 minutes, we were back on the ground! Daegu was so much bigger than we anticipated. We caught a taxi to Seomun Market, a traditional market that has over 4,000 stalls. It’s the last remaining market from the Joseun Dynasty. It looked like we were the only foreigners in the market, which I loved! We found some pots that are used for storing spices, some kitchenware, vegetables, and nuts roasting in drums. There was also dried seafood like prawns, fish, and seaweed. I’d never seen a presentation like this! Our first street food were a cabbage pancake and a leek chili pancake. They were served with a soy sauce with onions. At 2,500 won (a little over $2 U.S.) each, they were practically a steal! The leek chili one was a little hot with very little batter. It was so healthy and tasty! The cabbage one was also good and not my favorite. It had more batter and a bit of leek inside. Next, we passed by lots of seaweed and dried fish on our way to get a little waffle ball with walnut and red bean paste inside. It was very nice and contained a walnut and lots of red bean paste. You get 10 for 3,000 won, or $2.47. We passed crafts, clothing, and kids stuff before we found more street food across the street. We found a lady selling oden, or hot pot, tteok cooking in a red chili paste, and blood sausage. The blood sausage was really spicy and had an amazing texture! It cost 1,000 won, or $0.82. The tteok was only 500 won! The tteok a thick rice cake. It wasn’t too spicy but I loved it! Then I tried the fish cake (1,000 won). It was spongy with lots of herbs. I loved how dense and spicy it was! We cooled off with a cold, cloudy, and milky rice drink called sikhye. It contains grains of rice floating on the bottom and is really refreshing. It reminded me of sugarcane juice from India! The rice at the bottom was really nice! Next was a sweet doughnut-like dish called hotteok, which has sugar and seeds on it. They’re served scorching hot and have a crispy exterior with a soft, elephant-ear-like texture on the inside. It was amazing and super sweet! It cost 1,000 won. I was full, so we laid off the food. I found some clothing for kids and looked for something for my daughter. It was never-ending! I found some Spider-Man and Iron Man shirts for about $7. The saleswoman even gave me a discount!
