The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says it has resumed combat operations against Hamas, accusing the militant group of violating the truce agreement by firing toward Israel. CNN's Oren Liebermann reports. #CNN #News
The sun had just risen over Israel’s Negev desert, and at the all-night outdoor rave at Kibbutz Re’im, the party was still going. Thumping trance music was playing full volume, and under brightly-coloured canopies, hundreds of revellers were dancing themselves into exhaustion. #Israel #Gaza #Hamas Then, just as chill-out time began to beckon, uninvited guests arrived. On footage captured by a partygoer’s mobile phone, several small black dots can be seen approaching in the dawn sky from the direction of Gaza. As the cameraman shouts what appears to be a warning, fellow revellers ignore him, unable to hear because of the music. Moments later, the dancing stops as the airborne arrivals are revealed as motorised paragliders carrying armed Hamas militants. As rocket fire also begins, the dancers flee for their lives – chased by gunmen bent on shooting or kidnapping anyone in their path. Following the rampage, which began at around 7am on Saturday, dozens of partygoers were reported to have been killed or kidnapped, with many more still missing. The unconscious body of a dreadlocked female attendee was later paraded through Gaza in a truck, as passers-by spat on her. Among those reported to have been captured was a 26-year-old British citizen, Jake Marlowe, who was helping with security at the rave. Analysis by the BBC has revealed that Hamas held multiple training exercises in Gaza, ahead of their deadly attack on Israel on 7th October which claimed 1,200 lives. BBC Verify and BBC Arabic have established that Hamas held military exercises over three years and posted the evidence on social media. They practised hostage-taking, raiding compounds and breaching Israel's defences during these exercises, the last of which was held just 25 days before the attack. Several armed Palestinian groups joined Hamas in the assault on Israel. The groups carried out joint drills in Gaza, including at a site less than 1km from the barrier with Israel. The Ocotober attack on Israel provoked retaliation which has led to the deaths of more than 14,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to the authorities there. The Israeli Defence Forces has declared a “state of readiness for war” and vowed that “Israel will win” after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel this morning. The centre and south of Israel have been under sustained rocket fire for more than three and a half hours according to Israeli media. Earlier armed gunmen reportedly infiltrated Israeli communities after crossing the border fence. Hamas has so far taken 35 Israeli hostages, according to Israel media. At least five Israelis are thought to have been killed and at least 100 hundred more injured. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned that Hamas “made a grave mistake” in one of the most serious escalations of the conflict in years. “Today the people are regaining their revolution,” leader of Hamas’ military wing Mohammed Deif said in the recorded message, as he called on Palestinians from east Jerusalem to northern Israel to join the fight and “expel the occupiers and demolish the walls.” Subscribe to The Telegraph with our special offer: just £1 for 3 months. As Netanyahu convenes the security cabinet meeting he has called on citizens of Israel to unite. “Since this morning, the State of Israel has been at war. Our first goal is first of all to cleanse the area of the enemy forces that have infiltrated, and restore security and peace to the settlements that were attacked,” Netanyahu says. #Hamas #Israel #Palestine “The second goal, at the same time, is to exact a huge price from the enemy, also in the Gaza Strip,” he says. “The third goal is to fortify other arenas so that no one makes the mistake of joining this war,” Netanyahu says. “We are at war, in war you have to keep calm. I call on all citizens of Israel to unite in order to achieve our highest goal – victory in the war,” the PM said. Subscribe to The Telegraph with our special offer: just £1 for 3 months. This is the moment Palestinian terrorists led by Hamas attacked an Israeli music festival. Video from the ground shows the moment party-goers realised they were being attacked. Dark marks in the sky show where missiles were fired across the border from Gaza. Followed by paragliding gunmen who unleashed a massacre moments later. At least 260 people were killed at Nova Festival in what witnessed called an ‘ambush.’ People were cut down as they tried to flee in cars, and then on foot across open fields. Medics called to the scene said death squads attacked the exits and picked people off. Dash cam footage captured gunmen walking through the site and taking a hostage. Meanwhile drone footage revealed the extent of devastation from the air. It shows how cars snarled up the exit roads, leaving thousands of people with no way out. At least one Briton was killed in the carnage, along with a German tattoo artist. Her body was later paraded through the streets, and spat at by passers-by. #dailymail #israel #palestine Daily Mail Homepage: 🤍 Daily Mail Facebook: 🤍 Daily Mail IG: 🤍 Daily Mail Snap: 🤍 Daily Mail Twitter: 🤍 Daily Mail Pinterest: 🤍 Get the free Daily Mail mobile app: 🤍
Hamas claimed to have entered Israel on Saturday morning using motorised vehicles attached to parachutes, in an apparent attempt to avoid air defences. #Hamas #Israel #Palestine Footage released by the group purportedly shows militants crossing the border into Israel using parachutes with motorised fans to power them through the air. Some fighters had motors strapped directly to their backs, while others rode on small, three wheeled vehicles dangling from parafoil kites. A video posted on social media shows militants wearing the crest of the Air Force division of the al-Qassam Brigades the military wing of Hamas and the Palestinian flag. The video shows four parachutes in the air, with one attached to a three-wheeled vehicle. After landing, the fighters are then shown raiding buildings painted with the Star of David, a symbol of both Israel and judaism. The vehicles are officially known as “powered parachutes”, while using an engine to glide without a vehicle is called “powered paragliding”. The gliders can be purchased for as little as £12,250 and are built from simple components including a small engine and seat bolted to a metal frame. They fly at up to 35 miles per hour and can take off from a short stretch of ground. Hamas’s use of powered parachutists appears to have allowed the group to evade Israeli air defences. The Telegraph has not been able to independently verify the video or that the vehicles were used in the attacks on Saturday morning. Although the craft are mainly used by hobbyists, they have been used previously for military operations. MilSpecPPG, an Australian defence company, has manufactured a version of the vehicles designed for military use. The company says powered parachutes are “ideal for covert operations” and are “virtually invisible at 800ft when painted in ‘duck egg blue’ with the same coloured wing”. There is no suggestion the aircraft used by Hamas on Saturday were supplied by MilSpecPPG. Subscribe to The Telegraph with our special offer: just £1 for 3 months.
