Join the premium course to unlock more lessons, assignments, and longer critiques - 🤍 Establishing proportions is a common mind numbing challenge artists struggle with when drawing from reference. When we draw we’re usually using a combination of eyeballing and measuring, but if you don’t know how to train in these two areas, you’ll continue to get whacky proportions. This lesson will help train your mind to improve your accuracy, show you tools you can use to help you judge proportions and the skill set to give yourself quick feedback so you can improve faster. 00:00 - Intro 01:34 - Measuring 02:26 - Sighting 03:31 - Plumb Lines 04:12 - Angles 04:45 - Units 05:31 - Straights 05:58 - Negative Shapes 07:00 - Big to Small 08:30 - The Small Stuff 09:53 - Self Critique 11:28 - Outro Related Lessons Drawing Measuring Techniques - 🤍 #drawingbasics #drawingprocess #measuringadrawing Subscribe to Proko: 🤍 Don't miss new tutorials - Hit the BELL! Many people struggle with not having enough time to draw. One way to get better faster is to maximize the efficiency of your practice sessions. You can apply the 80/20 rule to practice the most important 20% of the concepts many times instead of 100% just once. Setting a time limit with quicksketch painting forces you to eliminate the insignificant and focus on the crucial. In this vlog, I travel out to one of my favorite painting spots in San Diego to do a couple of quick painting studies. Thank you for tuning into this special episode of Proko! We are happy to announce that, through minutes of research and a hard look at what we do, we've decided to unveil the new direction of our channel: Radio for artists! Stan’s had a passion for radio since he was a little Prokolet, designing fire mix tapes and pushing them on all his friends and family. But alas, life can really beat you down and he had to give up his dreams of putting music to Youtube-algorithmically-specific titles and descriptions to squeeze the most views out of a video, to do something more practical like drawing. But now, with your support over these past few years, we’ve finally made it to a point where the team can really focus on making those niche radio stations that you’ll be coming back to for years. Enjoy this selection of eclectic tunes that have all been featured in past Proko videos! #artmusic #beats #lofigirl Subscribe to Proko: 🤍 Don't miss new tutorials - Hit the BELL! Ryan Benjamin is a comic artist who has worked for both DC and Marvel and he has some valuable techniques to share when it comes to drawing comics. First, you’ll learn about the materials that Ryan uses to set up all of his pages. He then transitions to the early stages of layout using his red pencil. He views the red pencil as his thinking tool, and then when he’s ready, he switches to rendering with a standard pencil and turns his brain off. This is a process that he’s used over and over and now it’s become second nature to him. He finishes his demo by showing you his shading technique using 3 values while hatching. There’s more Ryan Benjamin lessons on the way so be sure to subscribe and hit the bell icon so you’re notified when new lessons come out!
